Joe and Lee Jamail
Texas Exes Houston Chapter Scholarship

The Texas Exes Houston Chapter accepted the challenge from Joe and Lee Jamail to create a scholarship endowment to promote diversity at The University of Texas at Austin. This scholarship will receive dollar for dollar matching funds from the Jamail Challenge Grant. This Challenge Grant was created to encourage the creation of new endowed scholarships to promote and preserve for all time a diverse student body at UT Austin.

African American or Hispanic students from the Houston area who demonstrate academic excellence and financial need will be considered for these scholarships. All scholarships will be multi-year awards: 4-years for undergraduates; 3-years for law students; 2-years for other graduate students. For undergraduate scholarships, recipients cannot be designated for specific colleges or majors. To continue the scholarships after the first year, all recipients must earn a minimum grade point average of 2.5.

The Texas Exes Houston Chapter will select the recipient or recipients for this award. Renewals of the scholarships will be administered by the Texas Exes Scholarship Department.     (top)

Houston Texas Exes – Robert H. Graham
Millennium Celebration Endowed Scholarship

Robert H. Graham (B. S. Electrical Engineering ’68, MS Electrical Engineering, ’72, MBA ’73) funded this endowment through his support of the We’re Texas Millennium Celebration held in Houston April 8, 1999. If other Chinquapin graduates enrolling at UT-Austin as freshmen become eligible for this scholarship, the entering freshmen will have priority over the continuing student in the selection process. If no Chinquapin School graduates are eligible, recipient(s) will be selected from among the pool of other outstanding finalists identified by the Houston Texas Exes Chapter through their scholarship program. For a non-Chinquapin graduate, this award is for the freshman year only.

Selection of recipient or recipients will be made by the Scholarship Committee of the Houston Texas Exes Chapter through their regular selection process. Final approval is to be given by The Ex-Students’ Association’s Scholarship Committee.     (top)
